Honkai: Star Rail Welt Build Guide

Honkai: Star Rail Welt Build Guide – In this Honkai: Star Rail Welt Build Guide, I’m going to share my Welt Build, one who is highly skilled at manipulating the Action Order of enemies to their disadvantage. He’s also an incredible Imaginary damage dealer, often destroying them in a matter of seconds. I’ll be discussing the Stats and Skills you should pay attention to, the Light Cones and Relics to strive for, and the Companions to pick in order to highlight Welt’s capabilities in combat. If you’re looking for an early game Level 40 Welt Build, then this Guide is for you!

Honkai: Star Rail Welt Build Guide

Welt is a 5-star character, whom you can pull from the Warp. He excels in dealing huge Imaginary Damage against multiple enemies. But what he does best is to inflict the Imprisonment effect to stifle the number of actions these targets perform in combat. As such, you get to obliterate them with great efficiency while lowering the chances of getting hit pretty badly.

Welt has some Effect Resistance boosts due to his Traces but he doesn’t have a good Defense Stat similar to the other damage dealers. It’s for this reason that you’ll need Natasha in the team to provide sufficient healing. You’ll also want Tingyun to boost his attacks as well as a main DPS in the form of Seele or Dan Heng who will take the lead in dealing insane amounts of damage.

Honkai: Star Rail Welt Build Guide – Stats And Eidolons

Similar to Sampo, Welt follows the Nihility Path so he’s an excellent character who inflicts debuffs to literally slow down targets, may they be regular enemies or elites. Because of this, he’s ideal to have in the party on top of his DPS abilities. To achieve both roles with great efficiency, you’ll want to focus on Welt’s Effect Hit Rate, Speed, and Break Effect.

Honkai Star Rail Welt Build Guide

Increasing his Effect Hit Rate considerably improves his chances of applying Imprisonment, which works quite like the Freeze status effect in terms of immobilizing the target and delaying their turn in combat. But instead of taking damage over time (DoT), their Speed will also be reduced, thereby lowering the frequency at which they attack. This is a game-changer, especially when successfully inflicted against stronger enemies since you’ll end up rendering their abilities useless. Next is enhancing Welt’s Speed, which is self-explanatory, and then his Break Effect. The moment he reduces the target’s Toughness to 0, he gains the advantage of dealing greater Imaginary Damage.

For this build, you’ll have Welt focus on primarily inflicting debuffs while taking on the role of a secondary or sub DPS. As a damage dealer, you’ll want to raise his substats, which include Attack %, Crit Rate, and Crit Damage to further boost his Imaginary Damage.

Should you get lucky enough to acquire multiple copies of Welt, he’ll gain significant bonuses. At Eidolon Level 1, he gains Legacy of Honor. Right after using the Synthetic Black Hole Ultimate Ability, the extra Imaginary Damage he deals with his Basic Attack and Skill go up by a large margin. So regardless of whether you’d want Welt to fulfill the role of a main or sub DPS, this should benefit him greatly.

Legacy of Honor Eidolon Level 1

Meanwhile, at Eidolon Level 4, there’s Appellation of Justice that considerably improves the chances of inflicting Speed reduction by more than 100% upon activating the Edge of the Void Skill. And lastly, it’s worth mentioning that even if neither of these Eidolons is unlocked, he continues to be an amazing character to play because of his crowd-control abilities.

Honkai: Star Rail Welt Build Guide – Skills And Traces

In this section, we’ll talk about Welt’s Skills and Traces together with what you should prioritize in combat.

  • Time Distortion (Talent) – This is a straightforward passive that allows Welt to deal additional Imaginary Damage based on his Attack % provided that the target is already inflicted with Slowed. Time Distortion works well with the ATK Boost and DMG Boost: Imaginary Stat Bonuses
  • Gravitational Imprisonment (Technique) – This is an impair technique that grants a huge advantage at the start of any encounter. Not only will the Movement Speed of enemies be decreased by half, but there’s also a huge chance to Imprison them for 1 turn. This means that their Speed is further reduced and their actions will most likely be delayed. The longer they stay Imprisoned, the better, in order to increase the chances of breaking their Toughness. In combination with the Punishment Ability, you’re guaranteed to deal +20% extra Imaginary Damage against them. What’s important to also remember is to trigger Gravitational Imprisonment first when approaching the target and then immediately swapping to an ally who can deal Weakness Break at the beginning of combat to immediately capitalize on these benefits.

  • Gravity Suppression (Basic ATK) – This is Welt’s normal attack where he deals Imaginary Damage against a single target to generate a skill point. Unlike Seele’s Thwack Basic Attack, he doesn’t have bonus abilities that further enhance Gravity Suppression.
  • Edge of the Void (Skill) – This is an exemplary skill because it allows Welt to deal Imaginary Damage multiple times. You’ll always get to choose your first target but the additional 2 attacks will hit 1-2 enemies at random. Against a single target though, Welt deals greater Imaginary Damage. Every time he executes Edge of the Void, there’s a chance to reduce their Speed for 2 turns.

  • Synthetic Black Hole (Ultimate) – This Ultimate Ability is the bread and butter of Welt’s build because not only is he able to deal massive Imaginary Damage against all enemies on the battlefield, but he can also Imprison them for 1 turn. Once successful, their Speed will be reduced and their actions will be immediately delayed, pushing them down the Action Order. More often than not, mobs will be susceptible to getting Imprisoned since their Effect Resistance Stat is lower. To make Synthetic Black Hole much more effective, you’ll need to unlock the Retribution and Judgment Abilities. Retribution amplifies the damage Welt deals whereas Judgment replenishes 10 Energy, which is a huge plus considering that his Max Energy is 120.

Honkai: Star Rail Welt Build Guide – Light Cones

When it comes to Light Cones, the ones you’ll want to chase after for Welt’s kit are Void, Good Night and Sleep Well, and In the Name of the World. Void is a 3-star Light Cone, which boosts his Effect Hit Rate for 3 turns. This is advantageous since it’ll considerably increase the chances of inflicting Imprisonment in combination with the Gravitational Imprisonment Technique. You can ascend Void to as much as 40 until you acquire Good Night and Sleep Well from the Warp.

Good Night and Sleep Well is a good 4-star Light Cone in that debuffed enemies take increased Imaginary Damage, which can be further stacked for up to 3x. This is huge considering that Welt will most likely inflict Imprisonment, especially against regular enemies. As a result, the team will be able to clear crowds faster.

And last but not least, you’ll want to obtain the 5-star Light Cone known as In the Name of the World. This greatly upgrades Good Night and Sleep Well in terms of the damage you deal against debuffed enemies. What’s more, is that Welt is encouraged to keep activating his Edge of the Void Skill, which this time around boosts his Attack, and therefore his Imaginary Damage, as well as his Effect Hit Rate. So you have multiple scenarios to inflict Imprisonment.

Honkai: Star Rail Welt Build Guide – Relics

In terms of Relics, it’s important to remember that for the Head and Hands, your character gets a flat HP and Attack bonus, respectively. This isn’t the case for the Body and Feet, which are comprised of random stats such as Effect Hit Rate and Speed. Ideally, you’d want to equip 4-star Relics since they provide 2-3 substats in addition to their main stat. But remember that regardless of the rating, enhancing them for every 3 levels will yield a random substat. For a Level 40 Welt, it’s enough to level up his Relics to a maximum of +6 for 4-star gear until you get their 5-star versions to reserve enough resources by then.

For Welt’s Relics, you’ll only need to wear one 4-piece set, particularly the Thief of Shooting Meteor. It not only boosts his Break Effect to deal greater Imaginary Damage but also restores a portion of his Energy upon breaking the target’s Toughness. The chances for this to happen are pretty high considering that Welt’s role is a sub DPS so it can be up to him to inflict Weakness Break.

Thief of Shooting Meteor Set

You can farm the Thief of Shooting Meteor Set from the Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Jabbing Punch. For the Thief’s Steel Grappling Hook and Meteor Boots, you should look out for Effect Hit Rate % and Speed as your main stats. If there’s no Speed, you can opt for Break Effect.

Team Composition

In Honkai: Star Rail, you’ll have all four characters available while combat is ongoing so you won’t be swapping from one to the next. There also won’t be elemental pools left behind. Instead, you’ll focus on the enemy’s weaknesses to deplete their Toughness and HP accordingly. For this Welt Guide, I’ll be sharing the best characters to go with him and how effective their skills are for this build.

Team Composition for Welt

For your main DPS, you’ll want to choose Seele or Dan Heng. Seele is an extraordinary Quantum damage dealer who excels in gaining extra turns when she slays an enemy using Thwack, Sheathed Blade, or Butterfly Flurry Skills. On the other hand, you can select Dan Heng for the free-to-play version if you don’t have Seele yet. He also follows the Hunt Path and is more than equipped at inflicting massive Wind Critical Damage against a single target. This is further enhanced when he makes use of the Cloudlancer Art: Torrent Skill, which can reduce the enemy’s Speed upon landing a crit.

Welt Build Guide - Seele in Combat

To improve Welt, Seele, and Dan Heng’s survivability, you’re going to need a highly reliable support character and healer in the form of Natasha who follows the Abundant Path. Due to her Love, Heal, and Choose Skill together with the Gift of Rebirth Ultimate, she can save the team in seemingly desperate moments. This makes her a worthy free-to-play character.

Finally, you’ll want to add Tingyun to the team. She’s another support character but one who follows the Harmony Path. Tingyun buffs an ally’s Attack using the Soothing Melody Skill such that they also become equipped at dealing Lightning Damage on top of their unique elemental damage. What’s more, is that their core damage is boosted for 2 turns and 50 Energy is replenished when she activates her Amidst the Rejoicing Clouds Ultimate.

Final Tips

Welt is another exceptional 5-star character because of his crowd-control techniques that lower the rate at which enemies get to attack in encounters. The idea with his skill rotation is to start by triggering the Gravitational Imprisonment Technique to inflict Imprisonment at the beginning of combat. Doing so will keep pushing them down the Action Order. Once he gains buffs from Tingyun, he can trigger the Synthetic Black Hole Ultimate to prolong the same status effect and to deal massive Imaginary Damage against all enemies. It’ll then be followed by Edge of the Void Skill and the Time Distortion Talent, further amplifying his overall damage against Slowed targets.

If you were to build Welt as a DPS with debuffer taking on the secondary role, you’ll want to equip the Wastelander of Banditry Desert 4-piece Relic set. This significantly increases his Imaginary Damage together with his Crit Rate and Crit Damage against Imprisoned enemies. A good alternative to the Good Night and Sleep Well Light Cone for this build would be We Will Meet Again, which you can get for free upon reaching Nameless Glory Level 30. Here, Welt deals additional damage when using Gravity Suppression or Edge of the Void.

When you unlock Planetary Ornaments, you should go for the 2-piece set called the Pan-Galactic Commercial Enterprise. Doing so will increase Welt’s Effect Hit Rate while amplifying his Attack, and therefore Imaginary Damage, based on the Effect Hit Rate’s value.
