The Lamplighters League A Turn-Based Tactical Game Launches October 3rd

Paradox Interactive and Harebrained Schemes have announced the pulp adventure theme The Lamplighters League will launch on October 3rd. Coming to Xbox Series and PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store) for $49.99. It will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass.

In case you missed it, the developer Harebrained Schemes are behind titles such as the Shadowrun Trilogy and Battletech. This time players will be setting foot in an alternate 1930s. Following a tyrannical cult called the Banished Court, they are looking to dominate the world. But putting a stop to their evil plans for a millennia now are heroic scholars known as the Lamplighters League.

Set in an alternate 1930s, bring down the evil Banished Court before they bring upon doomsday.

Recruit The Best of the Worst

But it looks like the league isn’t exactly what it use to be. Now only the “best of the worst” exists, which means a ragtag bunch of misfits. While this group does have admirable attributes they also have a bit of a murky background. Thieves, scoundrels and cutthroats are just some of the names the narrator uses to describe them. Using every trick in the book to take down the evil empire.

You can recruit new unlikely heroes and kit them out with upgrades to customise your gameplay style.

The new Lamplighters League trailer gives a quick look into the perils that these misfits will get into. Not only fighting soldiers but more ancient archaeological lifeforms which could put up a good challenge. There might be some surprises along the way as this motley crew hunts down the bad guys. You can choose from Occult Assassins to Mystic Swordsman a variety of strategies.

There’s more than just soldiers to face…

I like the mix of turn-based combat, real-time infiltration, and team management. The alternate 1930 is also a good setting, Indiana Jones meets Mutant Year Zero, but without the mutants. Titles such as Darkest Dungeon 2, which lets you recruit unlikely heroes are always a fun ride in my book. Throw in a plot to stop a doomsday from happening? I’m all in. Harebrained previously introduced a few characters, which are busting with charisma. I can’t wait to meet them all.

The Lamplighters League infuses real-time, stealth infiltration and team management all into one game.
