How to Get Anathema – Divinity Original Sin 2

Anathema is arguably the best Two-Handed Weapon in game, and the most useful one in the final battle. Anathema can help finish the final boss in a couple of turns, making an hour-long challenge into a short and easy encounter. This is the primary reason to acquire this Weapon.

How to Get Anathema

To acquire this Weapon, you need to complete the quest All In The Family. To obtain this quest, you’ll need to speak with necromancer Targquin the first time you board the Lady Vengeance. You can find him locked in Dallis’ room below deck. Be sure not kill him, for he is the key in this quest (and some others).

When you arrive at Reaper’s Coast, Tarquin can be found at the gate of Stonegarden, which is northeast of where you get off of the ship. Note that he will appear on the deck of the ship when you first land at Reaper’s Coast, but will then move. Speak with him at the gate to acquire the quest All In The Family.

Next you will need to investigate a family crypt and retrieve something for him. The key to the family crypt is located on a petrified sourceress named Qauna found in the crypt guarded by the hound (the crypt is close to and directly north of the family crypt and is flanked by two knight statues). Cast Bless on Quana inside the crypt to de-petrify her and she will talk to you. Either convince her to give you the key or kill her and take it. If you fight her she spawns a shit ton of undead, but they will all die if you kill her, so just focus her down. Optionally, you can lockpick the family crypt door if you didn’t find the key or can’t bothered.

Entrance to family crypt. Either lock pick the door or get the key from Quana in a nearby crypt guarded by a hound.

In the first room of the family crypt, there are two buttons on the wall, you need to get close to discover them. Press these the buttons to open the stone gate. This will take you to a second room with a sarcophagus and some levers, which is adjacent to a third room.

These buttons are located on opposite walls in this area. You’ll need decent Wits to discover them.

Teleport one of your companions into the third room and have them step on the pressure plate there. Then cast Spirit Vision (Learned in Powerful Awakening). This will reveal three levers on the wall in the second room with the sarcophagus. Pull the levers (middle-left-right) to reveal a secret hatch beneath the sarcophagus. If you have already touched the levers since stepping on the plate in the third room, in some other order, then you need to “reset” the middle lever. Pull the middle lever until water comes out in the third room, then do left, then do right.

You won’t be able to see the third level without Spirit Vision, so make sure you have it. Order is Middle, Left then Right.

Inside the hatch you will find a bunch of clay sentinels, gold and chests and another sarcophagus. Loot all the gold and chests and then open the sarcophagus to find the artifact. Note that if your character is a Lizard, he/she will recognize the language it says on it. When you try to leave the tomb, all clay sentinels will come to life and attack you so be sure you’re ready for the fight. Report to Tarquin, he will tell you another piece of artifact is on Bloodmoon Island.

When you travel to the Bloodmoon Island, you can find a hatch on its northeast corner, but you need high Wits to spot it buried.

Hatch’s location on Bloodmoon Island. It’s all the way to the Northeast.

Inside the hatch, is the other half of the artifact on a altar.

The second piece is on the altar here.

When you have both halves of the artifact, talk to Tarquin once more. Sometimes he is not at the gate of Stonegarden, and you can find him on the deck of the Lady Vengeance.

One you reach The Arx and do the quest A King Reborn, confront Targquin in the Hall of Echoes and he will give you the Anathema. Anathema deals almost twice the damage than other Two-Handed Weapon, making some of the weapon based skilled insanely powerful. However, it has only 1 Durability and will break after killing one enemy. Save it for the last boss and make quick work of him.
